At Deer Park Medical Centre, we understand the importance of providing affordable healthcare to our patients.

After considering rising costs of providing healthcare services and the freeze in the Medicare funding, Deer Park Medical Centre has implemented a mixed billing policy to ensure that all patients have access to quality healthcare while also maintaining the sustainability of our practice. 

This adjustment is being made in response to rising operational costs, while we continue to maintain high standards of care and service for our patients. We remain committed to providing accessible healthcare and appreciate your understanding and support. For further information please speak with our supportive reception team.

Private Billing

For patients who do not fall under the Bulk Billing criteria are privately billed for all doctor consultations.

Out-of-Pocket Fees

The out-of-pocket fee of $40.00 refers to the gap amount you pay after your Medicare rebate has been processed on the spot. This fee remains the same for both in-clinic and phone consultations. Patients without a valid Medicare card are not eligible for the instant rebate and will be charged the full consultation fee.

Payment Terms

Payment is expected at the time of your appointment.

For your convenience Cash, Credit Card/Debit Card and Eftpos  as well as HICAPS are accepted. This enables you to receive your Medicare rebate claim on the spot and no wait time.  Otherwise, Patients will receive the Medicare rebate into their bank account within 1-2 working days. Please note that your banking details must be provided and registered with Medicare. 

We are compassionate and are priority is your health care. Please speak with our friendly team should you be experiencing financial hardship. We believe that our mixed billing policy strikes the right balance between providing affordable healthcare to our patients while also ensuring the sustainability of our practice. 

Work Cover and TAC Claims

All work cover and TAC patients are billed privately at Deer Park Medical Centre. Patients will be required to pay for their medical services at the time of their apppointment. An invoice/receipt can be provided upon request. Please note  Tyro Surcharge or Hot Doc Processing fee may apply depending on the type of card you use for the payments.  The Medicare rebate amounts are based on the 2025-2026 Medicare Benefits Schedule, and may be subject to change in the future. The Medicare Rebate is the amount that patients can claim back from Medicare for their consultation fees.

At Deer Park Medical Centre, we understand that sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled or cancelled. However, when a patient does not show up for a scheduled appointment or cancels with less than 4 hours’ notice, it creates challenges for our doctors and staff in ensuring optimal patient care and may impact other patients from receiving timely care.

• Non-Attendance Fee: 

If a patient does not attend a scheduled appointment without any prior notice, a fee of $40.00 will be required  to be paid on the day or prior to your next appointment.

• Under 4-Hour Cancellation: 

If a patient cancels an appointment with under 4 hours' notice, a fee of $40.00 will be required to be paid. This fee will need to be paid before the patient can schedule another appointment.

• Late Arrival:

If a patient arrives after the scheduled appointment time or more than fifteen minutes, this will be deemed as a "No Show" and will incur the Cancellation fee of $40.00. It is best to reschedule at the earliest possible tiime to secure the appointment and avoid incurring any cancellation fees.  

SMS reminders are sent as a courtesy and assistnace. However,  it is important to actively manage scheduled appointments. (Please be aware that not responding to the SMS reminder does not serve as a notice of cancellation). 

Where a patient has more than two consecutive "no show" or under 4 hour cancellations, Deer Park Medical Centre reserves the right to decline further appointment requests.

Early cancellations enable this appointment slot to become available to another patient on the waiting list. The friendly team will endeavour to meet unexpected demands where possible. 

Deer Park Medical Centre uses HotDoc as the appointment system. This provides flexibility and enables more focus on patient centred care.  On occasion waiting times may vary when the doctor is assisting patients with urgent or complex issues. 

Outstanding Debt Recovery:

At Deer Park Medical Centre, it is our priority to provide exceptional healthcare services to all our patients.

As part of our commitment to financial transparency and sustainability, Deer Park Medical Centre has set the procedures for outstanding debt recovery. In the event of unpaid balances, Deer Park Medical Centre reserves the right to engage the services of a debt collector, and any associated fees will be included with any outstanding fees.
